We both went to Penn State, but our paths didn’t cross until after graduation, when mutual friends introduced us while helping them move into a new apartment in Washington, DC. Even something as ordinary as moving turned into fun together, and soon after we started dating. From the beginning, we bonded over Penn State, kickball on the National Mall, and trivia nights.
Some of our favorite memories together are from traveling. Our first big trip was to Costa Rica, where we spent days hopping across the country by boat, van, and bus. Even when caught in a monsoon hiking uphill to a waterfall, we laughed our way through it and made the best of every moment. Travel has remained one of our favorite ways to spend time together — from exploring wineries and hiking trails to wandering the streets of Portugal without a plan. Whether it’s big adventures or simple days playing pickleball in our neighborhood, we love finding new ways to make memories side by side.
Andrew proposed on a hike, with Kaitlyn’s best friend secretly waiting at the overlook with champagne and a camera. Afterward, he surprised her with a romantic getaway in downtown DC to celebrate.
When it came time to plan our wedding, the choice was easy. We’ve always loved traveling, and what mattered most to us was being in a beautiful place surrounded by the people we love most. A destination wedding felt like the perfect way to relax, celebrate, and spend meaningful time with our closest family and friends.
